Chronology of cameras Ihagee
The Exa cameras were the bottom of the range leading to the prestigious Exakta, viewfinders and lenses are interchangeable and compatible.
The big difference between the two series was the shutter. Curtain type, particularly sophisticated (and fragile) on Exakta, rotary type of extreme simplicity on Exa, but at the cost of a limited choice of speeds: B , 30, 60, 125 and 175.
This specimen, one of the first because without the strap rings, shows the serial number 1220 25; it features a pentaprism viewfinder at eye level and a small lens "Meritar 2.9 / 50 E. Ludwig 1355467" with a ring for pre-selection of the diaphragm.
The trigger on the front left hand is a little confusing, the button between the viewfinder and the cocking button is intended to allow rewinding. A small lever on the back protects against accidental shootings.
